Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to work within an established psychological therapies team at Ravenswood House, near Fareham. Ravenswood offers both low and medium secure services providing assessment, care and treatment for adult men with complex mental health and risk needs. We work to a recovery ethos, putting the individual service user at the centre of all we do.
The psychological therapies team has a strong emphasis on well-being and continued professional development with weekly protected time for CPD. The team includes clinical and forensic psychologists, psychodynamic and creative therapists, and clinical nurse specialists. We have links with local universities and there is the potential to supervise clinical and forensic trainees.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their clinical and forensic therapeutic, leadership and service development skills.
Applicants with sufficient experience and knowledge for a Band 8a post are encouraged to apply, and we will consider newly qualified applicants who have relevant experience and the potential to match the person specification for a development role as a Band 7. In the latter case, we would look to develop the applicant into the full 8a role, subject to achieving sufficient post-qualification experience, and the competencies required of an 8a role.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality and psychologically informed clinical and forensic psychology service to the wider multidisciplinary team, and across all sectors of care.
To promote the Specialised Services Psychological Model of Care, enhancing psychologically informed nurse led approaches. To provide psychological assessment and therapy to people referred to the service. The post holder will provide specialist treatment for complex cases and plan and prioritise their own clinical workload.
The postholder is a member of the multi-professional team. They will be required to work as an autonomous, independent practitioner responsible for their own work and interventions and as part of an multi disciplinary team. They will also be responsible for the interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies in providing a highly specialist Psychological service to individuals referred to Ravenswood House. This may include working with families/ carers or other identified person where appropriate. Individuals will primarily present with complex psychological problems. The post-holder will contribute to the provision of full and comprehensive psychology services to culturally diverse male in-patients with complex mental health disorders and forensic histories, who are detained in a low medium secure hospital

Doctoral level training in clinical or forensic psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS. Post-holder must be HCPC registered as a Psychologist
