About Blackburn Youth Zone
Blackburn Youth Zone is a 21st century youth hub located at the heart of Blackburn, open to
young people aged 5 to 25 years old, aiming to change the prospects offered to young
people in the area.
Blackburn Youth Zone is built on land where, 100 years ago, Blackburn's first electricity
generating station once stood. On the place where electricity first came to and powered the
town, the Youth Zone is now powering the community through the energy and creativity of
young people.
What also makes us distinctive is our relationship with the local business community, who
have wholeheartedly embraced the concept and pledged to work together to raise the
aspirations of our town's young people, equipping them with life skills, increased confidence
and independence which in turn will contribute to the regeneration of our town.
We are one of the leading youth organisations in the borough, with a membership of over
4,500 young people. We are open 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year and offer over 40
different activities and opportunities in our open access youth club.

Overview of Role
trusts funding activity
This will include:
- Coordination of a small freelance bid writing team
- Delivery of the grants and trusts components of the charity's fundraising strategy
- Reporting of performance and progress to the Head of Fundraising
- Work within the performance framework of Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone
- Adhere to B&DYZ policies at all times, with particular reference to Health and
Duties and Responsibilities - Detailed
- Secure funds to agreed annual targets within the funding strategy
- Manage and coordinate the specialist team of freelance team of bid writers
- Cultivate and maintain effective personal relationships with youth work
- Use a variety of online and printed tools to research potential funders
- Maintain a Prospects list of potential funders with effective horizon scanning
- Manage a rolling 3 year pipeline of funding for all core programmes
- Produce Project Initiation Documents (PIDs) for all successful funding
- Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that funders' expectations
- Create realistic budgets for bids alongside the Finance team
- To work closely with the Universal and Youth Hub managers to ensure all bids
- Acknowledge funding awards in a timely and consistent manner
- Become fully conversant in the use of the Salesforce CRM system and be

- Provide monthly reports to the Head of Fundraising regarding performance
