The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing a comprehensive and high-quality Clinical Biochemistry laboratory service, catering to a diverse patient population across multiple healthcare settings.

Our Clinical Biochemistry department operates primarily from a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with advanced technology to support our analytical services. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of care and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Clinical Biochemist, you will be responsible for:

  1. Delivering a wide range of complex and specialized scientific work, demonstrating skilled performance in various scenarios.
  2. Collaborating with the Head of Department and Consultant Clinical Biochemists to ensure the laboratory service meets nationally recognized standards.
  3. Providing expert clinical and scientific guidance to healthcare professionals regarding biochemical investigations and their interpretations.
  4. Developing a specialized focus in a specific area of Clinical Biochemistry or Point of Care Testing, leading initiatives for service enhancement and research.
  5. Contributing to the educational programs within the department and across affiliated sites.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Scientist.
  • Successful completion of Part 1 of the FRCPath examination in Clinical Biochemistry.
  • Completion of a postgraduate training program in Clinical Biochemistry, achieving a Grade A in the Scientist Training Program (STP).
