About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as Clinical Lead for Palliative Care at East Lancashire Hospice. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for the clinical leadership and management of our hospice community team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and direction to the hospice community team, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based specialist palliative care is delivered to patients and their families.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes, including advance care planning, symptom management, and end-of-life care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including primary and community care colleagues, to identify patients in need of palliative care services and promote awareness of hospice services.
  • Lead on non-medical prescribing within the team, including policy development and implementation.
  • Develop and manage the service budget, ensuring effective use of resources to meet patient needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the team's clinical caseloads, including admissions, episode closures, and outcomes, to ensure a cost-effective and equitable service.
Requirements
  • Current RN (Adult) registration with the NMC.
  • Level 7 degree or study in a relevant clinical field or nearing completion.
  • Recognized post-registration qualification(s) in a field relevant to the role.
  • V300 Non-Medical Prescribing or willingness to undertake.
  • Advanced assessment and clinical examination skills or willingness to undertake.
  • Leadership and management qualification.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Evidence of professional development, including validated clinical development or courses.
  • Substantial post-registration experience in palliative care.
  • Recent post-registration interest and experience in delivering specialist palliative care for a range of life-limiting illnesses.
  • Experience working with a wide range of people in various settings to improve patient outcomes.

  • Awareness of the hospice's charitable status and influence of service delivery and professionalism on charitable donations.
  • Ability to work as part of a rota over 7 days, contribute to the on-call rota, and be flexible to meet changing service needs.
  • Self-motivated, confident, and decisive, with the ability to work alone and manage own time without direct supervision.
  • Able to recognize own and others' limitations and proactively seek guidance and/or support where necessary.
  • Team player with commitment to multi-professional working and ability to network/establish effective working relationships.
