Project Lead

Reports To: Head of Operations

About the Role:

Seeking a results-oriented and customer-focused Project Lead to join our clients Operations team. In this critical role, you'll be involved the successful onboarding of new clients and products, leveraging your blend of operational expertise, technical knowledge, and commercial awareness to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

What You'll Do:

  • Champion a customer-centric approach, leading a cross-functional team to deliver on diverse client requirements for new products and services.
  • Employ an agile methodology to manage the onboarding process through well-defined work packages, trials, and pre-production activities.
  • Provide technical leadership for assigned projects, ensuring the successful onboarding of new products.
  • Oversee specific work packages encompassing technical discovery, trial builds, supply chain strategy, and development and manufacturing process development (APQP).
  • Serve as the primary client contact for your assigned projects, managing, maintaining, and continuously improving their experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bridge the gap between pre-production client requirements and operational execution, fostering ongoing client satisfaction with your projects.
  • Cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit, actively pursuing new business opportunities within existing customer relationships, collaborating with account management and functional leadership.
  • Champion process optimisation, ensuring all procedures for your projects are in place and adhered to, while streamlining them where necessary for optimal operational efficiency across interfaces with functions like SCM & QHSE, BD, and Engineering.
  • Develop and implement onboarding plans and strategies for assigned projects.
  • Proactively seek cost reduction and profitability improvement across your projects.
  • Assist with budget development and selection of subcontractors for your projects.
  • Support the development and execution of commercial claims, including business development, tendering activity, and project negotiations, specific to your projects.
  • Bridge the gap between client and project needs when required.

Who You Are:

  • Hold a technical engineering degree.
  • Possess a proven track record leading Operations projects, encompassing both new product introductions (NPI) and regular manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership skills, with a history of delivering effective project strategies, timelines, and budgets.
  • Bring a broad understanding of manufacturing systems, technologies, and business function systems.
  • Excel at relationship management, adeptly engaging, negotiating, and managing key stakeholders, clients, and suppliers alike.
  • Possess strong commercial and financial acumen with experience in commercially managing projects.
  • Have a working knowledge and technical understanding of both high-volume and low-volume processes, components, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Thrive in negotiations at all levels.
