We have a vacancy for an Estates Supervisor to be based at our Warneford Hospital site in Oxford.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful Estates Supervisor will be a key member of the estates team, supporting the Senior Estates manager to ensure that the Estate is safe and well maintained, including managing the small works team. The Estates Supervisor will also be responsible for effective internal and external communication.

Main duties -

  • Responsibility of developing method statements and risk assessments, for small works being undertaken by the Trust's small works team.
  • Record the receipt of all CAS alerts, and the details of all actions taken to comply with the alert, provide monthly reports detailing alerts received and status.
  • Maintain the department's PTW database, including all relevant associated information.
  • Maintain the department's training matrix; arranging training courses as required and providing reports detailing the status of training.
  • Develop and implement clear guidance for customers detailing what services they can procure and the timescale for delivery.

Policies and Training -

  • Responsibility of ensuring that staff for which the post holder is managerially responsible and contractors/agency staff employed to support these staff, are aware of all relevant policies, and comply with them.
  • Participate in Emergency Planning Exercises and Business Impact Assessments to ensure that the departments procedures are fit for purpose.

Leadership and Management -

  • Attend regular training sessions and deliver training through training and development program as required.
  • Manage the small works team, including disciplinary and performance management.
  • Foster effective team and collaborative working throughout the department, maintaining a cost effective customer centered culture,

Performance -

  • Carry out audits to check the quality of the work undertaken, and record the results, and report to the Senior Estates Manager.
  • Responsible for allocating work to appropriately qualified and competent staff, ensuring that workloads are achievable and distributed.
  • Identify to the Senior Estates manager if additional resources, including external specialist contractors are required to undertake works.
  • Financial management of relevant budgets within the department.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Significant estates maintenance expertise
  • Detailed knowledge of HTM/HBN requirements in relation to estate management
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of NHS PLACE inspections.
  • HND in Building Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical information to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to travel between sites and to regional meetings.
