The role
As a Supportability Engineering Sub Discipline Lead, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a key part in the management and career development of the Engineering Technicians in the Supportability Discipline and help to develop, sustain, and grow capability in support of the strategic direction of the marine business. You will also lead Tests and Trials post maintenance periods for Type 23 Frigates.

Day-to-day, you'll support the Royal Navy with in service support by providing Supportability Engineering Technicians capability leadership for approximately 50% of your time and managing and coordinating Type 23 Tests and Trials delivered and supported by the Refit Support Group organisation for the other part of your role.

Supportability Engineering Sub Discipline Lead

Leads the Supportability Technicians Sub-discipline team in Devonport. In collaboration with the Supportability Discipline Lead and Marine Sector Engineering Managers, allocates of staff to projects. Maintains and develops the 'people' capability of the discipline, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development, aligning with strategic direction and overall business goals

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 to 4 days in the office/onsite and 1 to 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Supportability Engineering Sub Discipline Lead

Demonstrable experience within a marine engineering environment. Considerable knowledge and experience of managing people. Ability to work in a complex environment, with many different stakeholders. An experienced problem solver with good negotiation skills, you will be able to offer options and solutions to complex problems. You will need to demonstrate that you can drive projects and issues to completion.

Qualifications for the Supportability Engineering Sub Discipline Lead

Preferably HNC qualified in an engineering discipline (mechanical, marine, electrics/electronics, systems or information systems) or relevant experience at the discretion of the Supportability Capability Manager.
