Join our innovative team at North Bristol NHS Trust as a Consultant Neurologist with a Specialist Interest in Neuroinflammation. You'll be an integral part of our dynamic neurology department, contributing to the growth and strategic development of our services. We collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care to our patients while fostering a supportive environment where every member can thrive.
In this role, you will provide Multiple Sclerosis and neuroinflammation services for patients in Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, with an extended reach to the wider Severn Region, and beyond . You will lead two specialist clinics a week, including a clinic on alternate weeks for people with non-MS CNS inflammatory disorders, alongside one general neurology clinic each week. You will be supported by an active MS MDT, weekly Neuroinflammatory MDT meetings, a comprehensive neuroradiology service, on-site Neurosurgical expertise and a comprehensive neuropathology service.
Once a month, you will replace a general neurology clinic with a neurology hot clinic. For between two to four weeks per year, all your activities will be dedicated to providing cover to the general neurology ward. You will also contribute our comprehensive stroke on-call (1:15 weekdays, 1:10 weekends), maintaining competence for this by providing stroke care within normal working hours (by replacement of usual scheduled activity).
The successful candidate will hold full GMC registration with a license to practice and possess a CCT or equivalent in Neurology. You must be on the specialist register via the CCT or CESR route or be eligible for specialist registration within six months of the interview. MRCP or an equivalent qualification is essential. You should have proven experience in neuroinflammation management and a strong commitment to patient care. Desirable qualifications include higher qualifications such as a Masters, MD, or PhD, along with publications in the field of neuroinflammation and additional relevant training in management and leadership. To compliment our existing expertise, we encourage applications from those with a interest in the management of Vasculitis or antibody mediated CNS disease.
