Job Overview

Position: 8c Senior Clinical Psychologist/ Neuropsychologist

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist with a focus on functional neurological disorders to become part of a prominent Neuropsychology department. This role is situated within a multidisciplinary team that includes specialists in Neuropsychiatry, Neurology, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering Clinical Psychology/Neuropsychology services, collaborating with a diverse team of professionals. You will be welcomed into a supportive and collegial Neuropsychology department, which consists of 13 Clinical Neuropsychologists/Psychologists and 9 Assistant Psychologists across five distinct services (General Outpatients, Neurosurgery, Cognitive Disorders, Stroke, and Community Traumatic Brain Injury).

Job Duties

The post-holder will be responsible for conducting assessments, consultations, and psychological interventions for individuals diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). You will take a leadership role in enhancing both outpatient and inpatient services, working closely with the service manager, consultants, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists to implement evidence-based service development, outcome measures, and quality improvement initiatives.

As a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to mentor junior staff and contribute to the broader multidisciplinary team. Additionally, you will provide support to colleagues across the south-west and nationally through professional networks and educational opportunities. The team is actively engaged in clinical research.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Doctoral-level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), accredited by the British Psychological Society.
  • Registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC.
  • Experience working with patients diagnosed with functional neurological disorders.
  • Significant supervised clinical practice in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation of adults.
