Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated, empathetic, and forward-thinking Clinical Psychologists or Therapeutic practitioners, including Family Therapists and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, who are eager to contribute to a pioneering multi-disciplinary service within a pediatric healthcare environment. The therapeutic professionals engaged in this role will be integrated into the NHS Children and Young People Gender Service (South West) and will collaborate within Psychological Health Services.
As part of a Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), the successful candidates will be responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of specialized services delivered by a diverse group of clinicians and health professionals. This includes clinical services, research initiatives, quality enhancement, and providing training and consultation to partner organizations. In addition to their primary clinical responsibilities, staff members may also engage in various clinical and professional roles based on their expertise, interests, and the needs of the service.
Main Responsibilities
The role involves delivering therapeutic services to pediatric medical and surgical specialties, including Children and Young People (CYP) gender services, which encompasses both direct and indirect clinical engagement.
- Conduct psychological assessments, develop formulations, and implement psychological interventions for children, young people, adults, and their families.
- Provide these services in both inpatient and outpatient settings as required.
- Offer psychological advice, consultation, training, and support to other professionals involved in the care pathway.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of services.
- Recommend enhancements for service development, guidelines, and protocols pertinent to psychological health across care pathways.
About the Organization
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) stands as one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, uniting a workforce of over 13,000 staff and offering more than 100 clinical services across multiple sites. Serving a core population exceeding 500,000 individuals in South West England, UHBW has received a 'Good' rating from the CQC, and our staff take pride in delivering exceptional care to the communities of Bristol, Weston, and beyond.
As an innovative, multi-award-winning Trust and a digital leader committed to enhancing patient care, our groundbreaking research and innovations are making a significant impact both locally and globally. Our facilities are strategically located across urban and coastal areas, providing a unique blend of city life and access to the countryside.
UHBW is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. As an equal opportunity employer, we actively strive for a diverse workforce that reflects the rich diversity of our local population at all levels, ensuring our services are tailored to meet the individual needs of patients and their families.
Professional Development
We are engaged in prominent national professional networks at a senior level across various organizations, including the BPS and NHS. Our strong partnerships with local and regional universities facilitate access to research support and clinical training opportunities, with honorary appointments available up to professorial level.
Psychological Health Services boasts an expanding research portfolio and is committed to providing high-quality continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities, including departmental meetings, journal clubs, and supervision groups. Our dedication to clinical excellence is reflected in our annual quality outcomes across a diverse range of activities.
We encourage collaboration and communication within our department, utilizing a central communication platform to keep staff informed and engaged. Membership in departmental Service Delivery Groups (SDGs) offers opportunities to broaden skills and participate in wider psychological initiatives.
While this recruitment is for a specific position, we welcome inquiries from individuals interested in exploring broader opportunities within our department. Our commitment to collaboration in pediatrics means we frequently provide guidance and support to patients beyond our core demographic, a practice that is highly valued within the Trust.
