Job Description

Legal Services Manager, 3 Month FTC, Cornwall

Parity Group are delighted to partner with our client, a healthcare organisation, who are looking to recruit a Head of Legal/Legal Services Manager on a FTC basis. This role will be based in Cornwall on a hybrid basis. The initial contract is three months but likely to go on beyond this.

You will receive a pro rata salary of up to £80k.

You will have a proven and successful background in clinical negligence claims and health law matters and you will be responsible for all work carried out by the legal team. You will manage and prioritise a broad and voluminous workload, ensuring a high quality and effective service.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • To lead the management of claims in respect of the handling of clinical negligence claims to ensure compliance with the relevant protocols, legislation and NHS Resolution guidelines.
  • To lead on the conduct of all personal injury claims against the organisation, including employee and public liability claims.
  • To undertake investigations of claims and agree defence, litigation risk settlements and settlements.
  • To act as the confident and sympathetic representative at mediation and agree settlements and Remedy
  • Review settled claims to ensure learning is identified and actions implemented that will help reduce the value of future settlements and the number of future claims.
  • To ensure that the appropriate level of urgency, sensitivity and responsibility, in the preparation of Court of Protection Applications/High Court and to instruct Counsel where necessary.
  • Good practical experience of conducting inquests and providing representation at inquests.
  • Litigation and/or clinical negligence experience
  • Mediated case settlements experience
  • Experience with the NHS is highly desired
