To contribute to, and ensure the development, co-ordination, implementation and evaluation of the Clinical Governance Strategy, systems and processes within the Surgical Business Unit offering highly specialist advice about current Clinical Governance practice, quality, safety and service development.

To support the development of Clinical Governance within the Business Unit To provide specialist advice and support to lead Clinicians, Managers, Matrons and key members of staff to ensure learning and changes in practice occur within the Business Unit To keep up to date with Clinical Governance requirements and to communicate these effectively to a variety of audiences.

To help maintain the database of policies, guidelines and standard operating procedures and ensure that they are reviewed and updated by individual guideline lead as required.

To Assist the Business Unit in complying with recommendations from national reports.


To produce regular and ad hoc reports for Various Trust and Business Unit committees, to include, Health and Safety, Medical Devices, Patient Experience, Operational Boards and sub-specialty groups within the Business Unit To deputise for the Clinical Governance Leads in representing the Business Unit by attending various Trust and Business Unit Committees, e.g., Health and Safety, Medical Devices, Patient Experience, Operational Boards and sub-specialty groups within the Business Unit Follow up any actions identified from incident reports, including initiating investigations.

Ensuring that all action plans are completed within timescales. To Co-ordinate audit priorities for the Business Unit.
