An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time (37.5hpw) Band 3 Therapy Technical Instructor to join the Specialist Community Palliative Care Service. The post is to cover the South East and Central part of Northumberland in support of existing services. The post will be working for Northumbria Healthcare Trust NHS Foundation Trust and will be part of the existing Community Specialist Palliative Care team. The service work closely with the MDT including Consultants, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers and Healthcare Assistants.
You must have an ability to work towards NVQ level 3, be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with at least 2 years’ experience of working in and adult health/social care setting.
To support therapists with wellbeing and rehabilitation/reablement programmes for clients at home and in community settings.
To communicate information and advice to service users, carers, families, agencies and providers and professional colleagues verbally and in written form, using information technology appropriately.
To complete written and electronic reports, providing details of interventions.
To fit assistive devices/ equipment within competency banding with a degree of accuracy and expertise using hand-eye co-ordination. This may be undertaken in restrictive conditions i.e. clients home environment.
To support Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists with moving and handling duties.
To support colleagues with joint visits in often difficult circumstances.
