Role overview


d'Overbroeck's enters students for a wide range of GCSE and GCE exams in the summer exam session during May and June.

We also hold mock exams internally at various times of year.

Our main venue for public exams is the Catholic Chaplaincy Newman Rooms in Rose Place, St Aldate's, but on other occasions we also use venues in North Oxford, such as Ewert House.

Exams are also held on our own premises at 333 Banbury Road.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role
Invigilators work closely with the Examinations Officer, Jo Simpson, and with the Exams office staff, who arrange invigilation teams.

When working in the main examination's hall, their primary duty is to assist the Chief Invigilator in supervising students sitting their public examinations

Duties will include:
- administering their entry and departure to and from the exam hall;
- ensuring exam regulations are fully adhered to;
- maintaining silence and discipline during exams;
- responding to students' problems and requests during exams;
- distributing and collecting in papers before and after the exams;
- liaising as necessary with the school Examinations Officer.


In addition, you may be asked to invigilate individual students who need to sit exams in separate rooms (for example, if they need to use a word processor, or utilise a scribe).


While our main need is for a strong team of invigilators for public exams, we also run internal mock exam sessions at various times in the academic year and we would welcome anyone who is available to help invigilate on these occasions as well.

These exams currently take place on two or three days in October, November, January, February, March, April and May.
