The Opportunity

QBE Europe is currently hiring an assistant accountant to join a well-established and successful finance team in our Stafford office. In this role, you will be responsible for processing, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions and information, assisting with general accounting, and preparing various management reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

Your new role

Policy, Process, and Procedures
  • Ensure that all processes are documented in a standard format and kept accessible.
  • Stay updated on training and knowledge, including mainframe applications and general insurance accounting.
  • Keep all documentation up to date.
  • Maintain compliance requirements and individual accreditation levels.
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including external auditors, to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations.
  • Establish a productive business relationship with your peer group.
Technical Performance
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records as per internal procedures and statutory requirements for legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform month-end activities like reconciling key control accounts and analyzing accounts to ensure correct procedures are followed.
  • Meet internal reporting deadlines.
  • Complete any ad-hoc investigation or project work on time.
About you
  • Part-qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or equivalent with relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of best-practice accounting (preferably in an insurance environment).
  • Working knowledge of relevant accounting software and tools.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player with collaboration abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
