Prison Custody Officers (PCOs) are crucial for the smooth operation of our prisons. We are seeking individuals who can seamlessly fit into this position.

The ethos at G4S prisons is centered around rehabilitating offenders and preparing them for reintegration into society upon release. Our goal is to create an environment within the prison that promotes safety for both staff and inmates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing prisoners with structure and routine
  • Ensuring prisoners attend work in the morning
  • Encouraging active participation in education and prison routines
  • Maintaining secure conditions for prisoners in their cells at night

Training:
Initial training spans 8 weeks, during which you will receive comprehensive instruction including Control & Restraint, First Aid, Interpersonal skills, and Health & Safety. G4S prioritizes the respectful treatment of prisoners, with staff forming positive and supportive relationships with those under their supervision.

Flexibility is key, and you must be available for varying shifts, which encompass mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights over a 40-hour workweek, including alternate weekends. With the potential for overtime and shift extensions, this role offers substantial earning prospects.

Starting Salary:
Your standard working week of 40 hours commences with a salary of 29,500, with the option to increase to 44 hours weekly, elevating the starting salary to 32,450 per year. Please note that the availability of 44-hour contracts is contingent upon the successful completion of your initial training course and will be assigned based on eligibility.
