WMG are seeking an Impact Officer to identify, support the development of, and communicate the impact on UK industry arising from the University's research portfolio.

It is essential that you are a skilled communicator and have a natural ability to build and nurture relationships with the ability to interpret and adhere to detailed and precise regulatory requirements

Job Purpose
To identify, support the development of, and communicate the impact on UK industry arising from the University's research portfolio.

This will be achieved by building and managing effective means of capturing relevant impact and creating a reportable database of impact projects and case studies.

These will be used to raise the profile of our Impact on UK industry, both internally and externally, and support WMG's submissions to HVM Catapult on a monthly and quarterly basis.

To lead on this activity on behalf of WMG.


To be responsible for the collation of raw data in order to produce the required regular reports, ensuring integrity of the data and managing report approvals governance, data analysis and insight and the negotiation of targets placed on WMG by HVM Catapult Core.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administration of governance processes including the creation, approval and storage of narratives. Maintaining WMG's records on data relating to impact on UK industry in compliance with requirements from BEIS and other regulators as necessary. To provide support to internal and external audits as required.
  • Reporting to HVM Catapult on monthly/quarterly basis as per BEIS requirements including the submission of the standard excel template for quantitative data and MS Word or PDF format for qualitative data.
  • Lead on the analysis of data to provide insight on behalf of senior stakeholders.
  • Seek improvements in automation of collection and reporting process and integrity and scope of data collected which is currently either fully manual or requires manual extraction from sources system.
  • Perform any other administrative duties as required, commensurate with the grading of the post.
