The Innovation Strategy was launched in January 2020 and states that every student should have an opportunity to engage with innovation as part of their Warwick learning experience.


Warwick Enterprise is a small team dedicated to student innovation and entrepreneurship positioned within the Innovation Group alongside Warwick Innovations and Warwick Science Park.

Warwick Enterprise supports the full spectrum of enterprise education including programmes to support enterprise skill development, graduate start-up, access to national and international networks, competitions, and schemes.

The portfolio includes a specific team focussed innovation in curriculum design that works in partnership with Warwick's Education Policy and Quality Unit and academic departments.

Warwick Enterprise also leads Creative Futures, an initiative dedicated to the Creative and Digital Industries, and plays a key role in facilitating the entrepreneurial eco-system on campus and beyond.


As our new Student Innovation Officer, you will lead and develop strands of the extra-curricular enterprise education offer for students and build the innovation community on campus in our new home, Junction.

You will be passionate about the importance of enterprise education for our current students and will have a track record of delivering high quality student development opportunities, building learning communities, project management, as well as a broad knowledge of entrepreneurialism in different contexts.

You will have an intrinsic motivation to enable, guide and mentor students through their enterprise journey and an energetic and entrepreneurial approach to developing professional practice.


With a renewed focus on building our student enterprise community, delivering innovative and engaging student opportunities, and maximising the use of our new physical spaces, this role will be pivotal in engaging Warwick students in their entrepreneurial endeavours.

JOB PURPOSE


The Student Innovation Officer will lead and develop strands of the enterprise education offer for students and build the innovation community on campus and in our new home, Junction.

The post-holder will work alongside the Graduate Enterprise Officer and the Enterprise Learning Technologist and report to the Enterprise Pathway Manager.

They will be required to contribute to the work of the Innovation Group as appropriate.
The post-holder will be passionate about the importance of enterprise education for our current generation of students.

They will have a track record of delivering high quality student development opportunities, building learning communities, project management, as well as a broad knowledge of entrepreneurialism in different contexts.

They will have an intrinsic motivation to enable, guide and mentor students through their enterprise journey. An energetic and entrepreneurial approach to developing professional practice in this field would be advantageous.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To develop, deliver and connect a range of Warwick Enterprise programmes, events, and opportunities for students at the University

This includes:

  • Funding opportunities such as the Student Enterprise Fund, Societies Innovation Fund and Lord Rootes Fund
  • Initiatives that support enterprise education and skill development (e.g., workshops, training, and dropin sessions)
  • Promotion of, and recruitment to, our digital programmes
  • To build the student innovation community both on campus and beyond, with Junction and its spaces acting as the hub of this community. This includes hosting and facilitating community building events and studentled initiatives.
  • Acting as the key point of liaison between Warwick Enterprise and our network of student societies and studentled groups and ensuring there are regular meetings of these groups with Warwick Enterprise and that the societies maximise their use of Junction.
  • To provide 1:1 or small group enterprise consultations for any student wishing to discuss an enterprise idea and facilitate the necessary referral to internal or external expertise or resource to enable individuals' ideas to be developed. In follow up to these, ensure the appropriate monitoring and support mechanisms are in place for emerging startup enterprises (e.g., sourcing mentors, conducting periodic review meetings).
