  • Pay band: SMP/9 - Starting annual salary at £55,699 plus £3,300 London allowance for London residents

Role Description:

As the Principal Strategy and Planning, your primary responsibility is to lead strategic initiatives and oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of business strategies. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to design and implement innovative strategies aligned with the organization's objectives. Your role involves analyzing market trends, discovering growth opportunities, and offering insights to enhance operational efficiency. You will contribute to the development of long-term plans in partnership with stakeholders, ensuring they align with global business priorities. Additionally, you'll provide guidance to Senior Leadership for informed decision-making to drive organizational success.

Role Context:

The Digital and Technology (D&T) Business unit at British Council plays a pivotal role in driving digital transformation and technological innovation across the organization. D&T is dedicated to developing and executing digital and technology strategies that are in line with the organizational mission, goals, and regulatory standards. Operating globally, D&T ensures the efficiency, security, and accessibility of all technology initiatives and systems. They lead initiatives in data management, software development, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and digital services. This unit is responsible for strategic planning, governance, risk management, financial oversight, strategy development, and capability enhancement across Digital and Technology.

Role specific knowledge and experience required:

Minimum/essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in strategic planning or related roles
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic plans
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of strategic planning methodologies
  • Proven track record in managing projects and teams inclusively

Desirable:

  • 7+ years of strategic planning experience
  • Experience in digital or technology industries
  • Proficiency in data analysis
  • Knowledge of emerging strategic trends
  • Experience in change management

Education:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field

Desirable:

  • MBA or advanced degree in business or related field

Professional Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Certified Strategy Planning Professional (CSPP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
