This role offers the opportunity for Hybrid working with attendance to the SIA's London, Docklands office required.

Job Purpose
Your key goal will be to facilitate the development and delivery of SIA's corporate strategies and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Line management responsibility for at least one member of staff.
  • Lead on developing and maintaining mechanisms for identifying new and emerging key issues which impact on corporate strategy and core strategic pieces which underpin it, ensuring their timely presentation to colleagues.
  • Develop and keep under review our corporate strategies and lead on the drafting and review of the corporate plan, including devising timetables and liaison with senior leadership, Board and Home Office for required approvals.
  • Support colleagues to ensure alignment between subcorporate level strategies and plans (Directorate and functional) and the corporate strategy.
  • Develop strategic thinking capability within the organisation.
  • Lead on devising and running the business planning process, establishing the timetable and liaison with senior leadership, Board and Home Office to produce an annual business plan and associated products such as an executive summary, directorate plans.
  • Development of materials for use by Senior Leadership Team about the business plan and delivery of communications with staff about corporate and business planning including the process and the plans.
  • Monitor progress against the corporate business plan, review and adjust as required, work with colleagues to establish remedial plans and update the senior leadership team on impacts on the business and corporate plans.
  • Brief the Board on the business and corporate plans and related issues.
  • Support the Head of Strategy and Governance in planning and delivering the Board's strategic away days, and strategic discussions at senior executive levels.
  • Support Head of External Communications in coordination of strategic level engagement with the industry and other external stakeholders.

Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Ability to think strategically, with evidence of a strong analytical skill set
  • Excellent interpersonal influencing skills to quickly establish effective relationships with staff and stakeholders and that support the influencing at senior strategic and operational levels
  • Good facilitation skills to engage colleagues in strategic thinking and development of business plans.
  • Experience in use of analytical tools
  • Use of research and data to underpin strategic thinking and decisions
  • Experience of business planning and performance monitoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present ideas and explain complex information clearly and coherently to a range of audiences
  • Ability to work under pressure and with conflicting priorities and deadlines, developing and managing a schedule involving several strands of work.
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
