London, Greater London, United Kingdom Police Life Full time

Shape the way we pursue serious and organised crime

Human traffickers, firearms and drugs dealers, cybercriminals and exploiters of children - at the NCA, we work at the cutting-edge of law enforcement, tackling those posing the most serious threat to UK life.

Now, more than ever, serious and organised criminals are finding new and more ruthless ways to prey on vulnerable people and the wider public. And, as the crime landscape continues to evolve, so do we. Our teams work creatively and collaboratively to find new and unexpected ways to stay ahead. Join them and your work will have a serious impact as you help us protect millions of people across the UK.

Your role

As an Intelligence Officer, you'll join National Covert Internet Targeting team (NCIT). Here, we use advanced open source techniques to conduct Covert Internet Investigations, targeting high threat Child Sex Abuse (CSA) offenders operating on the clear and dark web.

You'll focus on identifying and attributing online CSA offenders and develop intelligence to produce target packages, in turn helping us tackle offending more effectively. You'll also analyse communications data and cryptocurrency transactions to support on attribution.

On top of this, you'll carry out strategic research into emerging online threats to widen our operational knowledge and help us stay ahead of criminal activity.

Your background

You'll have experience in online investigations and research, along with a good understanding of relevant UK legislation and the challenges of this type of work. Experience in a CSA setting and an interest in emerging online technology are both desirable.

Beyond experience, we're looking for people who are driven to constantly change and improve. You should also be able to make effective decisions using your judgement and collaborate with a wide range of people.

IPP accreditation or the ability to achieve this within six months is essential.

Rewards

We take your career and development seriously and want to help you build a truly successful career with us and the wider Civil Service. So, we'll make sure you receive the right training, guidance and coaching as well as regular performance and development reviews.

What's more, as a Civil Service employee you're also entitled to a large range of benefits, including generous annual leave, flexible working, a contributory pension, staff bonuses and recognition, volunteering days, childcare vouchers and other salary sacrifice options, and an employee discount scheme.
