Information and Intelligence Officer

Our intelligence officers will principally be engaged in the research and development of allegations of economic crime, analysing and developing information received from a range of internal and external sources and identifying the most appropriate course of action and disposal routes.
The post holder will have experience of handling sensitive and confidential data in compliance with the law and best practice, along with the ability to handle, process and analyse this data, including sensitive personally identifiable data.

The post holder will principally be engaged in the research and development of allegations of economic crime, analysing and developing information received from a range of internal and external sources and identifying the most appropriate course of action and disposal routes.
- Identify the nature and scale of losses to the NHS associated with fraud, error, sharp practice, system weakness.
- Researching, acquiring, and analysing complex information to support a range of crime reduction activities, ensuring this is appropriately disseminated to assist in the prevention and detection of crime against the health service.
- As tasked and working to agreed timescales, to develop intelligence, conduct research, analyse information, and communicate findings clearly and concisely, in written or verbal form and using charts, tabular or graphical output as appropriate.
- Regularly coordinate research and intelligence work at local, regional, and national levels; to undertake the development of proactive exercises, analyse the results and provide evidencebased outcomes.
- Regularly interrogate systems, to detect and report upon anomalies, discrepancies, and irregularities of data.
- As tasked, to develop and disseminate accurate, relevant, and timely information intended to initiate or support existing operational cases and focus operational activity. To disseminate information in accordance with all relevant guidance and legislation in relation to sharing information.
- Accurately report on trends, patterns, and performance to senior management, other business units and external stakeholders.
- Concentrate for prolonged periods upon the interrogation of various specialist software packages to gather information; to establish, develop, modify, and interrogate spreadsheets, databases, and other systems; and to produce reports from these.
- Maintaining and developing good working relationships with other agencies and crime reduction establishments to facilitate and implement best practice.
- Maintain the organisations Continuous Professionalisation Development (CPD) programme, ensuring individuals can work towards and keep the IPP CPD which in turn will aid in membership to the Government Counter Fraud Profession (GCFP).
