The Parks and Open Spaces Service is looking for a Parks Technical Officer to join the team.

This role involves the day to day management of the Playground Engineers and wider playground maintenance operations across the City.

Other duties include the overseeing of a number of Health and Safety functions for the service, along with the opportunity to assist in the development of parks and green spaces.

This role gives an idea opportunity to use and develop a range of skills to help keep Nottingham's Parks and Playgrounds to a high standard.

As the country's highest Green Flag Award winner with a big improvement programme and numerous community group partnerships, we are looking for an enthusiastic team player with experience and skills from the Green Space and Health and safety sectors.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge and experience of managing and delivering projects in a greenspace environment including managing contractors and staff.
  • Good working knowledge of playground maintenance, European Safety Standards and Health and safety standards, including use of databases to collate and store this information.
  • Well developed knowledge and understanding of park and open space management issues such as Green Flag, environmental legislation, maintenance and security.
  • Ability to evaluate numerical and literacy information, write reports for a range of audiences.
  • Ability to communicate with both staff and the public, in person, in writing and by phone, including the ability to deliver presentations
  • Experience of working on own initiative in order to meet strict deadlines and objectives
