We've been around since 2001 and are focused on affecting change that will make lives better, make Cornwall fairer and combat inequality and injustice.


We are now looking for a Peer Support Worker to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term contract to work with people in St Austell on what matters to them.

This role will have some evening and weekend commitments.

The Role


As the Peer Support Worker in St Austell, you will use your experiences and empathy to support those who are recieving support from mental health services, supporting them on their journey and provide inspiration for their recovery.


You will draw on your lived experience to provide emotional and practical support in one to one and group settings.

You will build trusting relationships with individuals, focusing on what matters to people, and working with them, not doing to them.

You will co-facilitate groups and courses provided by CN4C and partner organisations.

You wil listen to how people feel about their situation and about being a patient, and influence recovery-focused practice within the organisation.

You will complete CN4C's database as required, and support the Operations Director with writing reports.

About You
To join us as a Peer Support Worker, you will need:

  • Have lived experience of mental health
  • Understand how to overcome the barriers for people from disadvavntaged communities and for people facing multiple and complex needs
  • Have an understanding of the need for confidentiality and equal opportunities
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Have experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs
  • Ability to arrange and deliver community activities
  • A creative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to motivate people to make positive change
  • Able to perform to targets and deadlines
  • Good time management and planning skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Flexible tow work evenings and weekends
  • Good communication skills
  • Level 2 English and Maths qualification, or willingness to work towards a Level 2
A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle would also be desirable.

This is a part-time role working 37.5 hours per week on a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2025.


Flexibility to work evenings and weekends will be required, as will the ability to travel to different locations at short notice.
