About the Department:

SOAS IT Directorate is seeking a dynamic leader who can drive the next phase of our IT service delivery and infrastructure strategy whilst delivering continuous improvement throughout our infrastructure and service operations. Perhaps you are plateauing in a 'head of' role and keen to unleash your leadership potential at Director-level. Or you may be an experienced leader seeking a new challenge within a delivery-focused institution that sees technology as its main investment priority. Reporting to the CIO you will be a key member of the IT Leadership team often deputising as appropriate and will be the leader for the Service management, Identity Management, Systems & Networking, AV and Technical specialist teams.

About the Role
As the Director of Service Delivery and Infrastructure, you will be the lead for all IT infrastructure and operations. This pivotal role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and exceptional leadership skills. Your mission is to ensure seamless, efficient, and innovative IT service delivery that aligns with our business goals and drives our success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Shape the mission and vision of the Service Delivery organization to foster a culture of continuous improvement and business-oriented mindset.
  • Service Delivery Strategy: Develop and integrate the Service Delivery strategy with the overall IT and enterprise strategic plans.
  • Advisory and Relationship Building: Act as a trusted advisor, building robust relationships with IT leaders and business executives to understand and meet business needs.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the annual operating budget for Service Delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and fiscal responsibility.
  • Vendor and Partner Management: Lead the development of sourcing strategies and maintain strong vendor relationships to achieve business goals.
  • Innovation and Technology: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, integrating innovative solutions to enhance IT capabilities and business strategy.
  • Operational Oversight: Direct the design, development, and support of IT infrastructure systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and maintain high performance.
  • Cyber Security: Oversee the management of security incidents and the development of information security policies and standards.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the Service Delivery team, fostering a high-performance culture.

Requirements

  • Experience: Substantial experience in infrastructure and service delivery roles, with significant leadership potential including team management and motivation.
  • Technical Expertise: High-level knowledge of infrastructure systems, hybrid environments, and a broad range of technologies and platforms (e.g., MS365, Intune, Cyber Security, Enterprise networks etc.).
  • Strategic Acumen: Proven ability to develop and implement strategic IT plans and manage significant budgets.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build robust relationships at a senior level.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Qualifications: A degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject area, or substantial equivalent experience.
