  • Castle Hill High School is a special school for students, aged , with significant and complex needs. We currently have 341 students on roll.   • We are seeking to appoint a Behaviour Support Lead to work within the Hub, a base for students with complex needs. If you are passionate about supporting young people with SEND overcome barriers to learning and promote their selfregulation and resilience then we would like to hear from you.

  • Specific Duties
  • Work collaboratively with the Hub Lead, SENDCO's and Hub teachers to address the needs of pupils who require support with overcoming barriers to learning
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and establish a safe and supportive environment
  • Play a key role in developing and implementing individualised behaviour support plans and strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Confidently take the lead and direct staff when dealing with pupils displaying challenging behaviours
  • Deliver training to staff on using deescalation techniques and how to manage challenging behaviours
  • Assisting pupils in developing social and emotional skills, promoting selfregulation and resilience
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to supporting pupils
  • Monitor behavioural incidents on the online system, report on outcomes and identify key areas for interventions
  • Develop and support systems within the Hub that promote positive behaviour, especially the requirement for "unconditional positive regard" for all students at all times
  • Arrange and develop 1:1 mentoring arrangements with pupils and provide support for pupils who are dysregulated both individually and in small groups where appropriate
  • To work proactively with staff to remove barriers to ensure full attendance in the Hub
  • Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning/behaviour and the consequences for their actions/decisions
  • Support pupils' access to learning, using appropriate strategies, resources etc.
  • Strong literacy and ICT skills
  • Support the work around British Values and the personal, social and moral development of our students.
  • You will need
  • Previous experience of working with young people with SEND
  • Previous experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviour
  • Strong understanding of behaviour regulation strategies
  • A good understanding of sensory processing difficulties and how to manage these in an education setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with pupils, parents and staff
  • Empathy, patience and resilience to work effectively with pupils facing social, emotional and mental health challenges
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity and equality in education
  • To demonstrate confidence and adaptability in challenging circumstances
