Behaviour Mentor Required

Teaching Personnel is in search of a dedicated and skilled Behaviour Mentor to contribute to a secondary educational institution rated 'Good' by Ofsted. This full-time role is focused on providing essential support to students facing behavioural challenges.

Position Summary:

As a Behaviour Mentor, your primary function will be to assist students in overcoming behavioural difficulties, fostering a positive educational experience. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Individualised Support: Delivering tailored mentoring to students experiencing behavioural issues. You will engage with these individuals to identify the root causes of their challenges, guiding them towards effective coping mechanisms and improved self-management.
  • Behavioural Strategies: Aiding in the execution of behaviour management plans and approaches within the classroom and broader school setting. You will collaborate with educators to address challenging behaviours and help sustain a constructive learning environment.
  • Emotional Support: Serving as a reliable adult figure for students needing extra guidance. You will provide emotional assistance, helping students enhance their self-worth, resilience, and accountability.
  • Team Collaboration: Partnering with teachers, the pastoral team, and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to formulate and implement effective behaviour support strategies. You will contribute to the development of personalised behaviour plans that cater to each student's unique requirements.
  • Progress Monitoring: Maintaining comprehensive records of student behaviour, incidents, and the effectiveness of interventions. You will provide regular updates on the impact of the support offered and collaborate with the school to refine strategies as necessary.
  • Crisis Management: Offering immediate assistance during escalated behavioural situations, employing de-escalation techniques to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all individuals involved.
  • Family Engagement: Communicating with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's behavioural progress. You will strive to establish strong partnerships between home and school to support student development.
  • Goal Setting: Assisting students in establishing personal objectives and providing continuous support to help them achieve these. You will promote positive behaviours and attitudes, encouraging students to focus on their education and personal development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours, preferably in an educational context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building rapport with students, staff, and families.
  • A composed, patient, and understanding demeanor, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, demonstrating a proactive and adaptable approach to meet student needs.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management techniques is advantageous, although training will be provided.
  • A strong commitment to assisting students in overcoming learning barriers and reaching their full potential.

Perks:

  • Competitive weekly compensation ranging from £419.25 to £500.
  • The chance to significantly influence the lives of students requiring additional behavioural support.
  • A nurturing and cooperative work environment within a well-rated educational institution.
  • Access to professional development and training opportunities to enhance your skill set.
  • Potential for the role to transition into a permanent position based on performance.

If you are dedicated to supporting young individuals and possess the skills to assist them in managing their behaviour and achieving success in their education, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
