Behaviour Mentor Required

Teaching Personnel is in search of a dedicated and skilled Behaviour Mentor to support students facing behavioural challenges. This role is integral to fostering a positive educational environment and will provide an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives.

Position Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, your primary focus will be to assist students in overcoming behavioural difficulties, thereby enhancing their engagement with learning. Key responsibilities include:

  • Individual Support: Delivering personalized mentoring to students experiencing behavioural issues. You will work to identify the root causes of their challenges and help them develop effective coping mechanisms.
  • Behavioural Strategies: Implementing behaviour management plans and supporting educators in maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere. Your role will involve addressing challenging behaviours to ensure a conducive learning environment.
  • Emotional Support: Serving as a trusted figure for students needing additional guidance. You will provide emotional assistance to help build their self-esteem and resilience.
  • Collaborative Approach: Partnering with teachers and the pastoral team to create tailored behaviour support strategies. You will contribute to the development of individualized behaviour plans that cater to each student's unique needs.
  • Progress Monitoring: Keeping thorough records of student behaviour and the effectiveness of interventions. Regular reporting on progress will be essential to adapt strategies as necessary.
  • Crisis Management: Offering immediate support during escalated behavioural incidents, utilizing de-escalation techniques to ensure safety for all involved.
  • Family Engagement: Communicating with parents to keep them informed about their child's behavioural progress and fostering strong home-school relationships.
  • Goal Setting: Assisting students in establishing personal objectives and providing continuous support to help them achieve these goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people exhibiting challenging behaviours, preferably in an educational context.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust with students, staff, and families.
  • A calm and empathetic demeanor, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating flexibility in meeting students' needs.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management techniques is advantageous, though training will be provided.
  • A strong commitment to empowering students to overcome obstacles to their learning.
