Job summary

Physiotherapists provide therapy services as part of the integrated, multi-disciplinary therapy team at Linden Lodge will apply your clinical skills in delivering hands-on physiotherapy, thereby ensuring the provision of a high standard of assessment, treatment and advice to children, young people and their families accessing the school.

Physiotherapy sessions will primarily take place at the school, or at home or in a clinic environment as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for providing specialist, evidence-based and outcome focused physiotherapy provision in order to support the needs of the children and young people attending the school who are at different life stages. They will also be required to support teaching staff and families/ carers to implement physiotherapy strategies and approaches. physiotherapy sessions will primarily take place at the school, or at home or in a clinic environments appropriate.

You will work as a skilled Physiotherapist , providing therapy services as part of the integrated, multi-disciplinary therapy team at Linden Lodge School.

You will apply your clinical skills in delivering hands-on Physiotherapy, thereby ensuring the provision of a high standard of assessment, treatment and advice to children, young people and their families accessing the school.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered member of HCPC and CSP Registered Physiotherapist with equivalent degree qualification Evidence form CPD portfolio of ongoing relevant post-graduate training both theoretical and practical to a advanced level. Evidence of successful completion of specialist post-graduate short courses involving training in assessment and treatment of children with neurological disorders

Desirable

Bobath trained therapist or trained in Maes therapy * HIGHLY DESIRABLE* Sensory integration training, knowledge or experience BABTT or APCP memberships Hydrotherapy experience and qualifications Rebound therapy experience or qualifications Treadmill training experience or qualifications Orthotic prescription knowledge/training (eg: dynamic footwear combination orthotics); trained in lycra garment prescriptions (DMO lycra suit measuring)

Experience

Essential

At least 3 years post-graduate experience working as a Physiotherapist working with children and young adults with complex neurological conditions and co-morbidities. Experience of autonomously delivering hands-on care to children with neurological and developmental difficulties. Experience in specialised Equipment prescription for children with special needs Well established knowledge of a range of standardised and functional assessment tools relevant to the client. Experience in implementing risk assessment and safe manual handling procedures and strategies for the treatment and handling of children with neurological conditions, both for the children themselves and for staff and carers working with the children in their care.

Desirable

Experience developing skills in relation to working with children who have neurological difficulties, and who have associated conditions such as epilepsy, visual difficulties, hearing difficulties, extreme joint hypermobility, sensory integration/modulation disorders, communication difficulties, and/or working with children who have a tracheostomy or PEG in situ. Experience in sports for the disabled. Experience in delivering hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, treadmill training, mobility clinics (trikes and bicycles). Experience in organising courses and training Experience in managing / providing Physiotherapy for children who have had surgical or botulinum toxin interventions. Involvement in research projects

Desirable

Using hands-on Musculoskeletal physiotherapy techniques to addressing/preventing the secondary musculoskeletal complications that develop in children with motor difficulties (eg: joint integrity, spinal and postural alignment, muscle imbalances, muscle spasms etc) Post-graduate training in the manual assessment, hands-on treatment, manual handling and management of conditions within the paediatric neuro-physiotherapy spectrum. This may include a broad spectrum of approaches, including Bobath therapy, to assess and effectively treat paediatric patients with these conditions. Knowledge in using early intervention communication strategies, such as symbols, auditory scanning, eye-pointing, Makaton signing, PODD books etc. Counselling skills Leadership qualities Participation in peer network for personal support and development Experience in providing rebound therapy, hydrotherapy or treadmill training. Experience in report-writing for EHCP requirements and annual reviews.
