Community Support Worker

The aim of our charity is to support people in poverty, deprivation or hardship to build relationships, reduce isolation and develop their self-help skills and social skills as well as building a social/peer group. We support people through a Manorview Membership process, and once they join, become Members of our Hub.
Our Hub Members can participate in a range of activities including arts and crafts, gaming, movie nights, relaxing spaces, outings and many more. Activities are based on our members interests and they are encouraged to let us know what they would be interested in trying the next time they attend the service.
About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Community Support Worker to work in our Hub for 21 hours per week. We are looking for people who can provide fun, meaningful activities such as baking, arts and crafts, games, sports, trips in the community and outdoor play to support young people to have lots of fun
As a Support Worker, you will be a key member of the team, providing:
- High standards of support to our members
- A creative and caring approach
- Opportunities to build strong relationships with our members, their families and other supporting professionals
- Encouragement and support to enjoy the Hub as much as possible
- Participation in activities is a key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.
- Good report writing skills to capture our impact and data
- Good team-working skills to work alongside the Community Development Worker, volunteers and partners
What you need to know
While experience is great, we are really looking for people with the right values. You should have excellent communication skills and be flexible and empathetic.
Hours: We have a flexible approach to the shifts you work, working 21 hours each week.
Location: The Hub, Coatbridge will be the main location of work, but this may vary dependent on the needs of the Foundation
Driving Licence desirable but not essential, as long as able to travel (as required) to meet our young people's needs.
Experience/qualifications/key skills required
Experience of working in a similar role and environment is desirable as is a willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities. You should be in possession of a formal qualification in youth / community work or be willing to work towards this.
