And that's where you come in because, right now, we're looking for a Transport Clerk to join our Operational Execution, Supply Chain & Logistics team at our distribution centre in Basingstoke.


Keeping our shelves full for our customers depends on us having a terrifically tight team, whether on the shop floor or at our distribution centre, where this particular role is based.

Your challenge? To carry out a variety of day-to-day clerical tasks across our Transport and Fleet operations, in line with the relevant plans.

As well as using a variety of systems and processes to input, produce and maintain accurate information relating to transport legislation, we'll rely on you to ensure our vehicles are properly maintained, by scheduling MOTs and servicing.

And, when it comes to identifying areas for improvement, making sure we adhere to legal compliance, or getting involved in ad hoc site-specific projects, again, we'll count on you.

So, what do you need to succeed?

Summary of the Role's Main Purpose.


Responsible on a day-to-day basis for the control of the movement of trailers and the Rigid fleet around the site to ensure loading schedules are adhered to, also all vehicle servicing requirements are met where applicable.

Ensuring that the ANPR system compliance is 98% and above for both inbound and outbound journeys.

Principle Accountabilities.

  • Monitoring and ensuring BCS/ANPR system is correctly used, to ensure successful flow of vehicles in and out of site.
  • Liaising with shunters over the radio, answering any queries or redirecting tasks. Completing Yard audits.
  • Chill / Prod / Ambient programme
  • Making sure that we have the correct amount and type of fleet available on dock ready to be loaded for the correct journey. Completing fridge temperatures checks and ensuring all trailers are set correctly ready for loading of trailers.


 Collection programme
  • Making sure that we have trailers available for drivers departing the depot empty for collections from suppliers etc.


 Service programme
  • After Fleet issue a Service plan, trailers must be presented to the VMU for servicing and MOT completion, before the Wednesday deadline.
  • Ensuring requests regarding a trailer wash are completed and making sure that we comply with regulations to keep the trailer fleet clean.
  • Ensuring that a Shift Handover is completed, listing any specific changes from that shift that would affect the others.
  • Food waste from stores, ensuring that the trailers are placed in the correct locations for tipping.
  • Have a full understanding of all the types of trailers / vehicles within the fleet, and their uses.
  • Reports for shunting movements issued to team managers daily.
