Role purpose


The role is to support the Office Managing Partner (OMP) in the smooth running and development of the office including: management of support staff; planning and financial management; change management; and liaising with external and internal contacts.

Principal responsibilities

Develop and maintain an efficient working environment, ensuring all office services and support staff are managed to an optimum level.


Office services and facilities responsibilities:

  • Manage the performance of contractors and third party suppliers; tender for office services seek to obtain best deals from suppliers, ensuring that agreed SLAs and performance standards are met.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of office accommodation, space planning and staff structure, and support any resulting changes.
  • Provide facilities services to MCL, ensuring that effective event management is provided, office space is optimised and service charge budgets are prepared and correctly apportioned.
  • Manage costs in accordance with agreed budgets and identify ways of improving profitability. Assist in the drafting and maintenance of office expenses budget in collaboration with OMP and Financial Operations Manager.
  • Attend quarterly building management meetings, ensuring the flow of relevant information between OMP and building property management.
  • Oversee effective Health & Safety (H&S) and First Aid processes: including regulatory compliance, ergonomic and risk assessments, sourcing H&S support/equipment and liaising with external contractors for testing of electrical appliances and firefightingequipment. Advise OMP of H&S issues and ensure steps are taken to resolve.

  • A commercial, proactive, resultsfocused approach
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload, and juggle multiple work duties
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and the proactivity to manage their own workload without frequent reference to a direct line manager


Strong IT skills
  • MS Excel, Power point, Word and able to get up to speed quickly with other inhouse systems
  • Prior Institution Of Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely training desired but not essential
  • Prior mental health awareness training desired but not essential
