The role's key purpose is to nurture and maintain strong working relationships, providing practical advice and support to the businesses' teams (approx 180 colleagues).


As an effective and proactive partner, you will be pragmatic and provide timely advice commercial guidance, and coaching support to all managers with regard to robust employee relations case management.

You will have the ability to influence and support people at all levels and across our teams, responsible for total case management, visiting the different teams and their meetings on site.

In addition, your experience and strong attention to detail will be invaluable with the monthly checking, coordination, and processing of the payroll, working with their outsourced payroll provider, and close liaison with the Finance team.


Your core areas of responsibility include:


Employee RelationsnCompetent and comfortable with running end-to-end employee case management with full understanding of all formal employee relations processes: Disciplinary, Capability/performance management, Grievances, Investigations, Flexible Working Requests, absence management.nYou will be fully conversant in note taking; coaching managers; providing scripts and explanation of the various stages and sanctions of the formal processes; and production of outcome letters; supporting managers with the preparation and co-ordination of evidence/documents for investigatory reports.nPractical support with coaching managers e.g.

prior to handling formal processes; creating user-friendly content for training material or manager's user guides posted for the learning management systemnTo help with the transition of ER responsibilities being handled by managers and to be able to deliver 'ER' training sessions to share knowledge on People performance topics, refreshing the content when needed so it continues to be engaging and relevant.nCo-ordinate and take advice from external legal providers as and when necessary and to protect the reputation and to reduce the risk and liability of the business.

Business PartneringnConsistently people / property partnering with allocated business teams to meet senior/line managers to fully understand their business area and respective challenges; helping them to provide timely solutions for all their people performance issues.nRegular attendance at property team meetings and contributing with updates from the People Team; holding people surgeries with colleagues across their property portfolionAttending Night Team meetings and meeting with the Night Management team (i.e. which typically take place from 20.00 for an hour, every 6 weeks – you will be entitled to time off in lieu).


Payroll preparation and reviewnWorking collaboratively with the People Team Administrator with the preparation of the monthly payroll – creating the payroll instruction; running the overtime report; checking sickness absence calculations; reviewing the payroll reports, between each trial and provide explanatory commentary to Finance where required etc.

Final review with the People Operations Manager.nPreparing the monthly payroll calendar and checking availability of all involved in the authorisation process.nIssuing engaging internal communications regarding the monthly payroll timetable and payroll cut-off deadlines.nReporting and metricsnProvide accurate and detailed people-related data and reporting – this includes taking a proactive approach with the data we have, ensuring we effectively monitor any trends which may require your support.nProactively identify opportunities for process improvement, 'automate and simplify' - recommending enhancements and methodology for their effective implementation, to the People Operations Manager.

About You:

nLikely to have between 3 – 4+ years' experience within ER role.nComprehensive experience in dealing with complex and simultaneous employee relation cases and respective knowledge of employment law.nAchieved CIPD L5 + studies will be beneficial and practical.nThorough understanding of employee relations & experience of applying commercial employment law into work-situations and in line with company policies/procedures.nFully conversant in data manipulation; HR metrics and analysisnExperienced and hands-on approach; previous experience working in a small/ medium business is desirable.

nTech-savvy with a good understanding of HRIS and reporting functionality; creative software knowledge and experience beneficialnFully conversant with Microsoft packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel– including Microsoft teams)
