Our Assistant Restaurant Manager

Reporting to our Restaurant Manager, we are seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to ensure the smooth running of our front-of-house team. The ideal candidate will be confident, self-motivated, and passionate about great hospitality. You'll assist in leading a team of nine, consisting of team members and team leaders; a key part of the role will be leading from the front, ensuring the team is immaculately presented and ready to deliver an exceptional guest experience. You'll also work closely with the back-of-house team in our 40-cover restaurant, making a strong working relationship with the kitchen team crucial.

A key focus for The Newt is seasonal, local produce, often grown on our own estate. Therefore, a true passion for this style of food and a desire to share it with your employees, colleagues, and guests is essential. Your role will also involve cultivating the growth of your junior team members, supporting them as they develop into skilled hospitality professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure our guests have a fantastic experience whilst dining with us
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with the recruitment, training and development of the front of house team
  • Uphold standards of both the restaurant and the team
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with rota & holiday, whilst controlling labour cost and staffing levels
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with stock control and costs

What we're looking for

  • At least 1 years' experience in a similar restaurant at team leader level or higher
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build relationships with our guests
  • Confident when training & developing team members
  • Good understanding of computer skills
  • Fantastic attention to detail
Where you'll be working - The Farmyard Kitchen

The Farmyard, a reimagined dairy nestled in the rolling Somerset hillside, our newest hotel project which houses 17 beautiful guest rooms within a newly renovated farmhouse with outbuildings. The Farmyard boasts a swimming pool, games room, honesty bar and 40-cover restaurant. Open breakfast through to dinner and using the finest produce from the estate, we cook in a wood fired oven and our chefs serve straight to the table. Seasonally lead, hearty yet humble sharing dishes with carafes of wine served in a beautiful stone barn, with relaxed yet high-end service and open kitchen.
