Senior Group Sales Executive

Hours – 37.5 hours a week 

What you’ll be doing: 

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Group Sales Executive to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing our group retention efforts and ensuring a positive experience for all groups. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Central management of group retention, meeting KPIs, and collaborating with operations teams.
  • Organising and distributing workload within the team to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Supporting and motivating the team to achieve sales and service targets.
  • Leading the team with purpose and direction to drive high performance and continuous growth.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with group leaders to generate initial and repeat bookings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve and exceed group sales and retention targets for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to build relationships with group leaders.
  • Collaborate closely with hostel managers and Central Sales teams.
  • Communicate with customers via phone and email.
  • Participate in continuous improvement workshops to enhance customer experience and team productivity.
  • Represent the Central Sales team and YHA professionally, adhering to all YHA policies and procedures.
  • Support other business initiatives to achieve success.
  • Lead by example, undertaking any duties expected of a senior team member.

Working Hours:

Our Specialist Reservations team works between 09:00 - 17:30, Monday – Friday. Flexibility to work around these times is essential. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work between home and our national office at DE4 3YH.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in making bookings and securing group sales.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills for accurate information processing.
  • Previous experience in a sales or customer-focused industry.
  • Proven ability in using sales and upselling techniques.
  • Exceptional knowledge of YHA, group business, and products.
  • Experience in direct sales activity, both face-to-face and over the telephone, in a target-driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and articulate communication.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and focused.
  • Experience working as part of a team and building relationships quickly.
  • Dynamic problem solver with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Excellent written communication and telephone manner.
  • Confident and effective use of YHA systems.
  • Leadership skills with evidence of previous management experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working with computerised booking systems and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Holds or working towards Customer Service NVQ or similar
