Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

You will be someone with sufficient legal knowledge and experience to quickly grasp new and emerging areas of specialism as required by the University’s diverse remit. You will work across the University and directly with the University Executive Team (UET) and Heads of Faculties and Services, to lead on and deliver high-quality specialist legal advice with a regulatory focus and a fully compliant corporate governance function.

You will lead on providing specialist legal advice to enable the University to operate compliantly within regulatory frameworks that include:

With the support of the Senior Governance Managers, you will draft and review specialist legal and governance documentation to meet regulatory and publication requirements; draft and review contracts for the University; and work directly with the UET, the Board and Committee Chairs in advising and writing Board and Committee papers.

Collaborating working with the Clerk of the Board, and all Board and Committee members, you will ensure the University meets the requirements of the CUC Governance Code and remove single points of failure as a full Deputy Clerk to the Board. You will lead on Independent Effectiveness Reviews, Board Recruitment, and regulatory reporting, policies and procedures. In addition to a competitive salary, defined benefit pension scheme and generous annual leave entitlement, this role provides an outstanding development opportunity to move in-house and to work in a diverse and varied role. The team works flexibly and supports hybrid working. Details will be provided during the recruitment process.
