Senior Governance Lawyer Opportunity

Bournemouth University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Governance Lawyer to join their Legal Services and Corporate Governance team. As a key member of the team, you will provide high-quality legal support to the University Executive Team, Deans, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice on general contracting, including education contracts, academic partnerships, and student recruitment.
  • Work closely with the Legal Services and Corporate Governance team to manage legal risk across a diverse remit.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the University Board and subsidiary Board members to provide strategic legal guidance.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and guidance to staff within and outside of the Legal Services team.
Requirements:
  • Significant experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on contracts and related risks.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial law, charity law, consumer law, intellectual property law, and IT contracts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with teams of legal and governance professionals.
  • Ability to confidently deliver and defend legal advice with diplomacy and tact to senior stakeholders and third parties.
