Senior Governance Lawyer

Bournemouth University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Governance Lawyer to join its Legal Services and Corporate Governance team. As a key member of the team, you will provide high-quality legal support to the University Executive Team, Deans, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert legal advice on general contracting, including education contracts, academic partnerships, student recruitment, IT, procurement, intellectual property, and data protection regulation.
- Work closely with the Legal Services and Corporate Governance team to manage legal risk across a diverse remit.
- Develop and implement standard templates, operating procedures, and guidance to support the role of the Legal Services team.
- Mentor and train staff within and outside of the Legal Services team to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Significant experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on contracts and related risks.
- Strong legal knowledge and experience in commercial law, charity law, consumer law, intellectual property law, IT contracts, and procurement-related contracts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with teams of legal and governance professionals.
- Confidence in delivering and defending legal advice with diplomacy and tact to senior stakeholders and third parties.
- 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and Christmas closure days)
- Hybrid working (minimum 2 days in the office)
- Local Government Pension Scheme, with 18% employer contributions
