Senior Regulatory Lawyer and Deputy Clerk to the Board

Bournemouth University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Regulatory Lawyer and Deputy Clerk to the Board to lead the provision of regulatory legal advice and governance support across the institution.
The successful candidate will work closely with the University Executive Team, Heads of Faculties and Services, and the Board to deliver high-quality specialist legal advice and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including the Office for Students (OfS), Consumer Protection Law, Charity Law, and Data Protection Law.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist legal advice to the University and the Board on regulatory matters
- Lead on the provision of governance support, including drafting and reviewing legal and governance documentation
- Work closely with the Clerk of the Board and Board members to ensure compliance with the CUC Governance Code
- Support the delivery of Corporate Governance activities, including Independent Effectiveness Reviews, Board Recruitment, and regulatory reporting
- Stay up-to-date with changes in a highly regulated sector and ensure the University remains compliant with all relevant laws and regulations
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory law and governance, with experience in providing specialist legal advice and support to senior management and Boards. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
