Job Description SummaryGE Vernova’s Power Conversion business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organisations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonisation, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

Job Description

We are looking for an engineer to provide technical expertise to support our Dynamic Positioning (DP) Systems with in-depth trouble-shooting, creation of technical reports, expert advice, and technical aspects of upgrades. The role will include carrying out testing of hardware and software, and carrying out upgrades and modifications to DP systems. You will support our installed base of systems, both in the UK and around the world, both in the office and occasionally on site if and when necessary.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Liaising with customers and field service engineers to resolve customers’ issues. Resolutions of problems may involve modifications to software and hardware, which you will identify and/or implement.
  • Carrying out analysis of diagnostic files, collaborating with your team members and the engineering/development teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Working on customer site, on occasion.
  • When not resolving on site issues, your task will be to look for opportunities to improve the reliability and stability of the DP systems.
  • Working closely with our sales teams to advise on the technical aspects of our bids for upgrades or new systems.

We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:

  • A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical or industrial engineering environment.
  • Several years of experience working with DP systems, such as design, installation, commissioning or maintenance.
  • Good understanding of programming PLCs (IEC61131 Function Block, Ladder, Structured text, etc.), and HMI/SCADA systems programming.
  • Knowledge of automation, control algorithms and communication networks, e.g., Modbus (RTU/TCP IP), OPC-UA, Profibus, Profinet, etc.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Willing to travel within UK and overseas for short-term working.
  • Valid UK/EU passport to meet travel requirements.

What will make you stand out:

  • Working towards or hold IEng or CEng qualification.
  • Full UK driver's license.

You can expect from us:

  • Challenging and exciting projects.
  • A work environment where we understand that not everyone has the same expectations about their jobs, careers and work-life balance and we are happy to discuss flexibility requirements.
  • Attractive compensation.
  • Flexible benefits so you can build a package that fits your personal needs. Some core benefits are: Employer pension contribution (not subject to individual contribution), Income protection, Private Health Insurance and Life Assurance.
  • 26 days vacation + bank holidays.
