Job purpose

To typeset and deliver high-stakes assessment materials for our General and Vocational qualification markets, ensuring accurate and secure delivery using templates that maintain brand consistency, quality, and accuracy. The role requires excellent customer service skills to support and guide the content team during submission and after the return of work

Key responsibilities

Design and delivery of GQ and VQ high stakes assessment material

  • Design, typeset and deliver high quality assessment material for GQ and VQ markets as well as large-print modified assessments using Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Pro and Illustrator.

  • Ensure adoption of correct design templates and adherence to house styles and accessibility standards.

  • Champion brand guidelines and follow quality standards and security procedures throughout the content development process.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Assessment and Product team colleagues.

Asset creation & management

  • Undertake the creation of complex digital assets such as illustrations and graphics using Adobe Illustrator, ensuring they adhere to house styles and company guidelines for future re-use.

  • Ensure the adoption of accessibility guidelines in the creation of assets.

Additional/lateral responsibilities

  • Contribute to cross-department work and initiatives as required.

  • Champion process improvement, including cost-saving initiatives and technology advancements in the design and typesetting process

Key requirements (skills & experience)

Core

● Willingness to take ownership of projects and see tasks through to completion.

● Communication (including a high level of competence with written and spoken English).

● Attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.

● Strategic thinking and the ability to build strong working relationships.

Design

● Excellent technical design skills.

● Advocates for and adopts accessibility guidelines.

Technical

● Excellent knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, with high familiarity with InDesign (creating complex layouts, using styles and master pages) and Illustrator being essential to the role.

● Awareness of HTML and JavaScript is beneficial.

Customer Service

  • Able to take on delegated duties outside of the day-to-day.

  • Ability to provide support and guidance to the content team during the submission and return of work.

● Adaptability: Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.

● Initiative: Proactive in identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

Design

● Print and Digital Media: Understanding of both print and digital design processes, including print production, and digital media constraints.

Technical

  • Advanced knowledge of Acrobat Pro for optimising PDFs including preflight checks and ensuring accessibility compliance.

  • Strong organisational skills for managing files and version control, ensuring that all assets are centrally stored
