Nottingham, United Kingdom University of Nottingham Full time

We are looking for a friendly, engaging and enthusiastic individual to join the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies Operations team. The post will provide high level administrative support in all areas of Health, Safety and Facilities as well as the wider operations team.

The role holder will work together with colleagues to provide excellent administrative support and ensure day-to-day operational needs are met.  Your role is varied, and you’ll be liaising with a wide range of people across the university as well as external visitors.

As an Administrator you will:

  • Support the Senior Administrator and act as a point of contact for H&S matters.
  • Support the undertaking of risk assessments and H&S inductions.
  • Ensure all school staff remain up to date with mandatory compliance training e.g. Fire Safety training.
  • Assist in facilities projects such as office moves and renovations and be responsible for the schools asset inventory.
  • Work closely with the Senior Administrators to ensure the School Office runs smoothly.
  • Provide an effective, efficient, attractive and safe working environment for the benefit of staff, students and visitors.

And you will bring:

  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams)
  • Excellent oral and written communication and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work independently to resolve complex internal and external queries.
  • Provide and maintain a high level of customer service whilst working to deadlines.
  • Accuracy, reliability and the willingness and adaptability to learn new skills and procedures.
  • A positive attitude to building and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues.

It would be advantageous to have an awareness of H&S principles, although this is not a necessity as full training will be provided.

Our School thrives through the different ideas and experiences of colleagues, who come from a mix of cultures and backgrounds. We strive to foster a welcoming, inspiring and supportive workplace. We are seeking applications from candidates whose background, experience and identity broadens and enhances the diversity of our existing team and would especially welcome applications from members of groups who are currently underrepresented in the School, particularly Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates. We understand that having a mix of perspectives, lived experiences and approaches enhances our day-to-day work and enriches our School community.

This is a full-time (36.25 hours) permanent position. Job share arrangements may be considered.

We are committed to providing generous employment packages, further information and detail here.

We want you to succeed in our recruitment process and have published Candidate Guidance for you to access information and support on application and interview process.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Alice Flear, Alice.Flear@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
