To validate novel therapeutic targets, contributing to their nomination onto portfolio and advance new pipeline programmes as a member of project teams. Frequently working in ambiguous situations, using new ideas and knowledge with increasing frequency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Analyse expression of the most promising cancer targets on mRNA and protein level, contribute to their nomination onto portfolio and their progression towards IND
* Analyse expression of AML cancer targets across molecular subtypes and normal tissues
* Build a deep understanding of AML disease biology and awareness of key opinion leaders in the field
* Evaluate most representative models of cancer/ healthy tissues and, using in vitro ImmTAC assays, further elucidate target biology
* Enhance our target identification and validation processes with novel and innovative suggestions
* Analyse relevant literature to aid triaging potential cancer targets by gaining in-depth understanding of the target biological role and cancer disease biology
* Collaborate cross-functionally and act as a representative in cross-functional project teams
* Analyse and report experimental results verbally and in writing, and contribute to writing research publications

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience & knowledge

Essential
* Understanding of the drug discovery process
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment as evidenced by publications, presentations, patent applications, and/or contributions to regulatory submissions
* Astute scientific approach with strong time management and agile work practices
* Experience with histology techniques, such as FFPE/ frozen tissue sectioning and Immunohistochemistry
* Experience with molecular biology techniques including primer design and qPCR, western blotting
* Experience with cell-based assays including cell culture, flow cytometry and FACS, in vitro immunoassays (ideally expertise with primary AML)

Desirable

* Experience in single/multiplex Immunofluorescence/ IHC/ In Situ Hybridisation
* In-depth knowledge of AML disease biology, molecular heterogeneity, stem cell biology and representative models
* Drug-hunting industry record
* Experience with analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing data (10x), bioinformatics, pathology training and complex cell and 3D models

Education & qualifications

* Normally requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience; may include post-doctoral experience.
* MSc degree or BSc degree with role-specific equivalent research or industrial experience.
