East of England Ambulance Service Trust – Bedfordshire

The Trust require a Deputy Chief of Clinical Operations to strategically lead manage and implement all Operations Support requirements of the Trust.

This role will work closely within the Clinical Operations Office as well as be a key leader within the Fleet, Make Ready and Clinical Engineering Structure.

Please note that the anticipated interview date for successful applicants will be Wednesday 3rd July 24.

· Meeting (and where possible improving on) key performance, quality and personal targets contributing to the achievement of the Service Plan.

· 100% of Annual Performance Reviews, appraisals and Personal Development Plans completed to time and in line with the agreed policy.

· Improving employee satisfaction results as measured by the Staff Survey, notably engagement and communications.

· Improving staff retention, attendance and the performance management of individual staff;

· Meeting patient and internal complaints targets focusing on continuous improvement by actively implementing improvements learned from outcomes.

· Achieving budget and financial targets and making efficiencies where appropriate.

· Managing corporate risk including supervising and investigating Serious Incidents; taking mitigating actions and embedding the learning from the events taking actions to prevent similar reoccurrence.

· Optimal production of all resources to support the model of delivery.

· Modernisation of Fleet & Make Ready practices to improve efficiency.

· Effective staff and Trade Union communication and engagement.

· Achievement of contractual and regulatory performance targets

· Complaints targets are met.

All NHS Trust’s have a range of corporate accountabilities which will need to be followed as detailed in the code of conduct for NHS Managers, contract of employment and Trust policies and procedures. These responsibilities include, for example, adherence to NHS standards and values, compliance with standing orders and standing financial instructions, health and safety, standards for better health, Nolan principles on governance, data protection and Freedom of Information. Lead and line manage (several) department(s) within the scope of responsibility by recruiting, supervising, appraising and developing staff in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) so that they achieve optimum performance in order to meet the requirements of the Trust’s annual plan. It is expected that the post holder will participate in executive decision making in the context of performance and future development of the organisation.

  • Promoting a culture of continuous quality-improvement to ensure best practice patient
  • Developing a ‘one service’ brand and culture for the delivery of patient facing
  • Ensuring the make ready and fleet services are working affectively across the Trust and providing the support needed to service delivery.
  • Ensuring operations works as a single team to provide an efficient and cost-effective
  • Providing leadership and direction to all operational staff in EEAST sectors to ensure central policy is effectively implemented and performance levels
  • To ensure EEAST works effectively with individual CCGs, STPs, and clusters to influence and implement local urgent care
  • Representing the Chief of Clinical Operations when required; being the 'public face' of the EEAST and enhancing the reputation and profile of the
  • Making the most effective decisions on behalf of the EEAST that affect patient care, the public, staff and the Service using well-informed judgement in collaboration with a range of
  • Working with external agencies and communities to build relationships and proactively deliver appropriate responses to meet the challenges and needs of patients, other emergency, social and health care
  • Making and being accountable for decisions on behalf of the Trust at Gold/strategic level requiring working an On Call out of hours rota, covering days, nights and
  • Being a role model leader by demonstrating effective and appropriate behaviours in both the day-to- day and high risk, difficult and distressing situations; being flexible by demonstrating the appropriate leadership styles and adapting communication to match the situation and audience; wearing uniform when appropriate and required.
