An exciting opportunity has arisen for a one-year maternity cover post as the Mayors casework co-coordinator for the casework team.

Role Purpose

This is a senior role in the case work team, The Mayor’s Caseworker Co-ordinator will support the casework manager oversee and co-ordinate the mayor’s casework team and manage some of the officers processing that casework, to ensure that all cases are progressed and responded to correctly and efficiently. You will also be required to handle complex cases.

This role is based in the mayor’s office and attendance is required twice at the weekly surgery which are held in Whitechapel and Poplar Idea Stores.

Key Responsibilities

This is an important role responsible for delivering an essential service for the mayor, supporting the casework manager to manage the casework team, and working directly with Tower Hamlets residents.

You will be communicating with resident’s face to face, over the phone and email, ensuring that all residents receive timely and accurate responses to their enquiries, as well as following up on cases and going the extra mile to get things done for our residents.

The role will involve being a key point of contact with different council departments and working together with partner organisations including housing associations, TfL, the NHS, and the Metropolitan Police. You will be expected to keep up to date on new developments within the Council and across its partners.

Requirements

You should have knowledge of the Council’s structures, functions, governance arrangements and decision-making processes of local government.

Demonstrable experience of providing excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present sensitive information clearly and concisely to a range of audiences is essential and it is expectedyou will have strong analytical skills, experience of working within deadlines and managing competing priorities.
