**Overview of project/role**
The Project Co-ordinator is responsible for assisting the Construction Manager or Project Manager to provide comprehensive project co-ordination and office management support to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the pre-construction and construction planning, monitoring, assurance and delivery to cost, programme, safety and quality requirements.
**_ _**Key Accountabilities**:
- Making day-to-day decisions around project issues
- Assist the Project manager to co-ordinate detailed cost plans, phasing expenditure and cash flow over the term and control of change
- Responsible for supporting project planning and scheduling activities, tracking milestones and identifying variances.
- Analysis of data and making decisions where appropriate or providing recommendations
- Supporting the preparation of project documentation to enable robust project governance processes
- Assist with the risk management process
- Assist with the contract procurement process in collaboration with the procurement team
- Liaise with interfacing projects and co-ordinate associated works construction activities
- Assist with ensuring that works construction activities comply with relevant safety legislation and TfL safety requirements, collaborating with the HSE team as required.
The role requires strong inter-personal and communications skills to establish good working relationships with all colleagues in order to be able to carry out allocated tasks and be effective at achieving results and progress. The role also requires good management of time, the ability to manage conflicting priorities and the ability to ensure timely closure of actions.
At times the work may be confidential in nature and the jobholder is expected to exercise integrity and discretion.
The Project Co-ordinator role is generic across TfL and as such is embedded in a variety of departments requiring often additional skills set and/or experience.
**Skills**:
- Ability to analyse data, draw conclusions, produce reports and make recommendations to senior management.
- Good all round data and business analysis, requirements specification and technical report writing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally.
- Ability to build effective working relationships, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally and to influence.
- Ability to plan, implement and manage projects to deliver to time, budget and quality.
- Ability to use office based computer packages, e.g. MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) to basic level.
**Knowledge**:
- Understanding of TfL project and programme management methodologies and processes.
- Knowledge of MS Office software and MS Windows.
- Understanding of risk management processes
- Awareness of contractual issues in a project environment.
- Awareness of financial control and procurement processes and techniques.
**Experience**:
- Experience of working in project management in a large, complex, safety focussed and regulated organisation(s), where there are multiple complex interfaces, and delivering to time budget and quality.
- Experience of building relationships with, and influencing, a range of people at all levels within and outside the organisation
- Experience of working in a construction or engineering environment is desirable.
- Experience of preparing budgets and forecasts in conjunction with relevant line manager
