The Event Director will manage and drive all aspects within this horizontal technology events business. The role will be managing a team of 30+ people to deliver three large scale exhibitions per year. This includes overall management and guidance of the sales, marketing & conference teams and overseeing the account management and key relationships with clients. The Event Director will help define business strategy and develop initiatives and ideas for revenue growth within the fast-paced and ever-changing industry.


Key responsibilities within the role:

  • Traveling to international trade shows in London, Amsterdam, and San Francisco
  • Events include: IoT, AI &Big Data, Digital Transformation, Intelligent Automation, Unified Comms, and Cyber Security & Cloud
  • Managing conference production cycles
  • Working with and supporting the Sales Director to manage the sales team; conducting team meetings, training, series selling, ensuring there is a solid a rebook process
  • Develop and execute effective customer retention, sales and business development plans to support market penetration and growth and brand positioning of all of the shows
  • Working with a management team across operations, sales, conference and marketing
  • Building in KPI’s and incentive structures across all teams
  • Ensuring the event reaches it financial and operational targets and achieves year-on-year growth


Key requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in an event director role with a strong commercial and operational background
  • An insight into the technology sectors of the event is desirable
  • Proven experience with managing large-scale exhibitions or events, delivering excellent attendees and exhibitor value, and growing large-scale exhibitions.
  • Experience in managing a sales team, marketing delivery, conference production timelines and delivering on event attendance numbers.
  • Experienced in the management of people and who can clearly demonstrate an ability to motivate and communicate well to teams.
  • Strong strategic focus, with good forecasting and reporting ability
  • Experience in attendee delivery, marketing execution, sponsorship and exhibition/tradeshow sales, and key strategic partnerships to grow large-scale exhibitions.
  • Strong sales process, methodology, and understanding of client retention initiatives.
  • Must be very organized and detail-oriented.
