Role summary:


The Data Engineer’s responsibilities include managing, maintaining and improving our data warehouse and BI reporting for Mitsubishi Electric UK and Ireland.


You will be responsible for reviewing, developing and testing architectures to enable data extraction from and to multiple systems. You will be working with the key business users to understand data needs, evaluating, and understanding data interfaces and looking at optimisation of the data warehouse and architecture.


This includes executing testing of any new developments or fixes and ensuring that data is collected, stored and made accessible for analysis. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving our UK branch wide data warehouse environment through resolving any data related issues and archiving based on business needs.


This will involve working directly with third party solution suppliers and acting as the SME for the UK and Irish branch. You will work with the Business Solutions and SAP team to identify any areas for data management and improvement. This will also include working with other European branches to identify areas of consolidation and improvement


Skills/Responsibilities:


  • Experienced in translation of conceptual requirements to architect the data to enable effective business reporting.
  • Perform root cause analysis on internal process and data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Test management to ensure data requirements have been met across all relevant branch systems for any new projects, developments or bug fixes.
  • Effective collaboration and communication with 3rd Party developers/suppliers.
  • Identifying best practice data processes and standards to ensure all business units benefit from innovative thinking.
  • Proactively manage branch data warehouse and database including development of any new data infrastructure.
  • Maintaining high performance of all data interfaces to ensure optimised results for the branch.
  • Work with IT team colleagues and other European branch resources to manage the data environment and availability.
  • Monitor data workflows and data processes on Board and CRM systems daily to ensure effective and efficient data delivery.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate data issues raised in Board and CRM system at branch level.
  • Review branch data architecture and interfaces and suggest areas for improvement and optimisation and feed into Branch Data Strategy.
  • Working with the Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer to ensure appropriate processes are in place for data security, sharing and authorisation.
  • Escalate and manage any risks/issues identified with minimal delay.


Experience:


  • Advanced working knowledge and experience of implementing and managing SQL databases, SSIS and SSRS reporting, BI reporting tools, data warehouse management essential.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working in relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Ability to define and maintain multiple data interfaces with third party systems.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Experience in delivery of Management Information, Financial Reporting, Forecasting, Planning and Analysis applications from a data management perspective.
  • Good understanding of system project life cycle and delivery.
  • Experience and aptitude in data modelling and user interface design for business-oriented reporting and business process improvement.
  • Experience with working on at least one multi-dimensional modelling tool is desirable.
  • Experience in designing high-quality reports, dashboards and graphical user interfaces with focus on creating a good user experience.
