What you’ll do

We are looking for a Finance Controller. You will play a critical role in producing accurate and timely financial information and insight within the context of an appropriate and efficient control environment.

Some of your responsibilities will be:

  • Coach the Controllership team.
  • Ensure timely and accurate management and financial accounts
  • Performing cash flow analysis, forecasting and management.
  • Ensure the balance sheet is accurate and monthly reconciliation and review process is carried out
  • Manage the annual audit and all aspects of statutory accounting in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of financial and tax reporting (Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE/NIC)
  • Ensure Company Secretarial filings are accurate and timely
  • Ensure that financial and linked operational processes are simple and have appropriate internal controls:
  • Ensure that all revenues are identified, billed and collected promptly
  • Ensure Purchase ledger processes are efficient, and in particular that contractors are paid in accordance with agreed terms.
  • Ensure that financial and operational controls are regularly reviewed and updated, applied and adhered to.
  • Oversee the accurate production of the monthly payroll for staff.
  • Account system maintenance, integrity, performance improvement and upgrades.
  • Manage external grant funding.
  • Manage key banking, audit, regulatory, and HMRC relationships and promptly respond to requests for information.
  • Liaise with tax advisors and accounting support.

Where you'll be

This is a hybrid role based from our Edinburgh site. More details will be provided during the interview process.

How you’ll grow

The natural career progression for someone who has gained experience as a Financial Controller is to progress into a more senior finance position, including Head of Finance or Chief Financial Officer. In this position, you will have responsibility for providing strategic and financial guidance at Board level to ensure that our financial commitments are met.

What you’ll bring

  • Several years of post-qualified Experience
  • Prior experience in commercial business partnering / financial reporting, tax, financial planning/analysis, finance systems, and statutory accounting.
  • Experience working within private equity, financial services or a multinational business.
  • People leadership and matrix management skills.
