Job Description

What your new role will entail;

Our thriving Water Engineering business is seeking a skilled hydraulic engineer to join our Hydraulics team and contribute to our exciting portfolio of multimillion-pound UK Water Industry projects. Our team is responsible for conducting hydraulic analysis and designing water/wastewater treatment plants and transfer pipelines for a diverse range of clients.

This role represents a great opportunity to lead a highly experienced team of professionals, leveraging their collective expertise to deliver innovative solutions on a diverse range of projects that meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Leading teams with team members of varying experience levels from Apprentice and Graduate through to Principal and Senior Principal level engineers.
Working collaboratively with various other design discipline engineers on projects and be a decision maker, driving projects forward and leading critical decisions.
Developing robust, reliable, innovative, and cost-effective hydraulic designs.
Preparing design reports that detail the calculations/analysis performed and their key findings.
Estimating and budgeting man-hours for design tasks.
Ensuring that all activities adhere to Health and Safety Regulations and Accepted Industry Practices.
Validating all deliverables, including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications, in accordance with our Quality Assurance (QA) system.

The Water business brings together the skills of project managers, hydrologists, water scientists, numerical modellers and civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers. We do this to provide integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Our work ranges from high profile infrastructure schemes through to locally significant projects that make a real difference to communities. We work with a large number of the water companies in the UK, private clients, and government entities. We also work on a number of very high profile and prestigious projects overseas from our UK offices.

You will be leading the hydraulics team, a vibrant group of technical experts with deep expertise in water & wastewater. From treatment plants and pumping stations to intakes, outfalls, and complex networks, their knowledge encompasses the entire industry. Utilizing industry-standard software, they craft innovative solutions for even the most challenging hydraulic problems. Qualifications

Here’s what we will need from you;

Proven experience in hydraulic design within the UK Water Industry.
A professional chartership with one of the following institutes: CIWEM, IChemE, IMechE, ICE.
Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic design principles and experience collaborating with other disciplines, such as Process, Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical.
Free Surface Flow hydraulic design for water / wastewater treatment works
Pressurised pump systems and designing rising mains and pumping stations
Transient surge systems, designing surge suppression systems
CFD modelling and computational fluid dynamics
Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing.
Effective articulation of concepts and ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to produce clear, accurate, and concise engineering reports and specifications.
